A commentary on Abu Ishaq Ilbiri’s poem on the seeking of knowledge and its Mannerisms. It is said to have written this poem in response to a young man who had insulted him. Instead of replying in kind, which was the custom of poets, he decided to respond by providing the young man advice that would benefit him in this life and the next.

About The Author
Abu Isḥaq al-Ilbiri Ibrahim b. Masʿud b. Saʿid al-Tujibi (d. 459 or 460 H), was a poet and a Maliki jurist who lived towards the end of Umayyad rule and during the era of the Reyes de taifas (muluk al-ṭawaʾif, the ‘petty states’) in al-Andalus in the 5th/11th century.
About The Commentator
Shaykh Suhaib Sirajudin received his Degree in Islamic theology from Darul Uloom Al Arabiyya Al Islamiyyah, Bury (UK). He then continued his studies for a Degree in Software Engineering at Blackburn College, an associate college of Lancaster University, and for his Masters in Computer Security from the University of Liverpool.
He further studied for a Diploma in Counselling for marriage issues, Drugs, Stress and Family Counselling. After completing his studies he travelled to Saudi Arabia and taught at the Jubail University in Jubail, Eastern Province.
He is the author of Master Quranic Arabic In 24 Hours', A Commentary On Nuzhatun Nazar Fi Tawdeehi Nukhbatil Fikr, Abu Guddah: Patience of Pious Predecessors In Seeking Knowledge and many other books.
